How AI and digital pathology will improve access to healthcare across Asia

Moderator: Joe Yeong

Despite advances in medical science and technology, significant inequities persist, with more than half the world’s population - approximately 4.5 billion people - lacking full access to essential health services. In view of these challenges, artificial intelligence (AI) and digital medicine represent a huge opportunity to transform healthcare delivery. AI has already demonstrated its potential in the developed regions, especially in the western countries, where its application spans from automating diagnostics to enabling personalized treatments. However, some parts of Asia remain largely untapped due to constraints from limited access to technology, underrepresentation in datasets, scarcity of skilled personnel, and the complex realities of low-resource healthcare systems.
